The first inhabitants of Australia were the Aboriginals. They came from South-East Asia about 50 000 years ago. At that time, the ocean was 165 feet lower than it is now. Historians suppose that dryness created some land bridges between Asia and Australia. Thanks to that, the Aboriginals came to this continent walking. They quickly scattered all over the continent. They were hunting and gathering to live. The Aboriginal population grew up in different tribes, with a different culture from one to another.
